At least 64 people have reportedly died following a police operation focusing on a gang in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro. On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the police focused the Red Command gang in Rio de Janeiro’s northern suburbs, close to the worldwide airport, according to U.Okay. newspaper The Times and the BBC. While their purpose was to serve arrest warrants to the main members of the drug trafficking gang, the operation tuned into what has been described as the largest and deadliest raid in Rio de Janeiro’s historical past, per the BBC.
