“Money” Moicano needs Dan Miragliotta to go f—ok himself—he just does not care enough to file the paperwork.

After initially refusing to blame Miragliotta or “start a war” over the controversial standup, Moicano has now confirmed that he will not formally appeal his loss to Nolan or search punishment against the veteran referee.

The controversy started in the second spherical when Miragliotta inexplicably stood the fighters up while Moicano had Nolan’s back with a physique triangle locked in and was touchdown short punches.

Nolan immediately capitalized, badly hurting Moicano with a knee and almost ending him before the bell. The Australian continued making use of strain in the third spherical, ultimately reversing a takedown and unloading ground-and-pound until Miragliotta stopped the battle.

During a follow-up interview with MMA Fighting at present, Moicano admitted that the call pissed off him and disrupted his focus.

“I was a little frustrated with the referee standing the fight up, too,” Moicano said. “I was a little frustrated, and frustration is a bad thing. But that’s it, it’s over. What can I do? There’s nothing I can do about it.”

Moicano said Miragliotta never warned him that the motion could be restarted.

“It caught me by surprise,” Moicano said. “When he said, ‘Stand up,’ I don’t remember him giving any warnings. And even if he had given a warning, I saw a lot of people saying that’s in the rules, that it’s a new rule. I’ve never heard of that. I’ve never heard of anyone being stood up from mount or from someone’s back. It was the first time I’d ever seen it.

“I thought about complaining, but then I informed myself, pay attention, focus on the battle,” Moicano continued. “But I clearly lost my focus.”

The Unified Rules allow referees to restart the action if neither fighter is making a meaningful or sustained effort to advance toward a finish. However, Moicano was hand-fighting, landing short strikes and attacking from one of the most dominant positions in mixed martial arts (MMA), leading UFC’s broadcast team and numerous fighters to condemn Miragliotta’s decision.

Despite the controversial call, Moicano will not file an official appeal with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). He also has no plans to request that Miragliotta be punished or prevented from officiating his future fights.

“I need him to go f—ok himself, him and everyone else,” Moicano said. “I do not give a shit.”

Still, Moicano refused to use Miragliotta as an excuse for the defeat. He acknowledged that he should have completed Nolan when he had the alternative and credited the Australian for efficiently defending his submission makes an attempt.
