Disturbing footage from inside a Russian summer time camp has reportedly revealed kids as younger as eight being ready for fight through gruelling marches and the likelihood to throw hand grenades.

The drills were overseen by troopers who participated in the battle in Ukraine, veterans, representing a broader motion in Russia to practice even younger kids for future army responsibility, according to a Reuters report.

With army trainers yelling encouragement, the 83 kids, aged 8-17, participated in a “route march” along the banks of the River Don, Reuters reported.

Participant Ivan Glushchenko, 8, advised the outlet he loved “how we threw hand grenades and fired dummy shots.”

Video exhibits the kids sprinting and crawling on their stomachs across sand and through shallow water.

Numerous contributors wore camouflage gear. Some carried precise weapons, while others held toy replicas. Russian officers claim this sort of coaching helps foster healthy patriotism and strengthen national resilience.

The kids belonged to a cadet group operated by Cossacks in the Rostov area, close to the Ukrainian border. Instructor Vladimir Yanenko advised Reuters that the kids gained “understanding and knowledge” from the expertise.

“Patriotic training is very important,” he said.

However, critics like the impartial kids’s rights organisation “Ne Norma” argue that placing kids through army-style coaching and educating them in faculty how to deal with weapons and construct army drones is a type of indoctrination and propaganda.

“Why am I here? It’s because I want to tie my future with military service. (I want) to serve my country and be loyal to my cause until the very end,” expressed one of the older boys, Anton.

Another boy, David, talked about that the “route march” had allowed him to take a look at his own limits. “It allowed me to find out how strong my willpower is.”

After the coaching, some of the kids were clearly buzzing with pleasure. “I nearly died!” one teenage woman exclaimed.

“We made the run three times!” her buddy said, hugging her.
