It’s another version of Knicks Mailbag, with SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley prepared to reply your questions surrounding the crew. Let’s get began…

What’s your learn on McBride’s future with Knicks? Is he a possible commerce piece for a large? Love him but feels laborious to see him prolonged – @SBart_89

**This one is tough because Miles McBride has positively earned a raise. He’s outplayed his contract (3 years, $13 million) by a vital quantity. The drawback here is that the Knicks are up against the NBA’s second apron. According to proprietor James Dolan, the Knicks will not exceed the second apron in crew wage ($221 million) this season. Let’s assume Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and – ultimately – Jalen Brunson signal extensions. With those extensions on the books, the Knicks will have vital money dedicated to the beginning 5.

Landry Shamet and Jose Alvarado are also under contract for a number of seasons. So there is not much financial wiggle room for a McBride extension.

Things can change, of course. Maybe the Knicks transfer off of future wage in a commerce and open up some money. Maybe Dolan and the Knicks determine to increase future spending without regard for the second apron. It’s value noting that the Knicks and McBride’s representatives have been in common contact forward of the season. In a excellent world, those conversations would produce a multi-year extension for McBride.

The longest-tenured Knick, McBride loves New York, loves his teammates; he was an integral half of this crew’s rise. The reality that he’ll possible have to play this coming season with contract uncertainty is a disgrace.

Yes, McBride on an expiring contract is one of the most invaluable commerce chips in the league. He would garner vital curiosity if New York made him out there via commerce – either in-season or in the offseason. We’re actually not there yet. But logic tells you that’s where issues could be headed.

Do you think any of the second-year Nets guys are poised for a breakout season? – @Jayis2serious

Have to go with their highest 2025 first-rounder, Egor Demin. He confirmed the most promise as a rookie and, according to pal of The Putback, Albert Ghim, organizationally, at least one of the Nets’ 5 first-rounders wants to take a bounce this season. If that occurs – and lottery decide Markel Brown Jr. reveals promise – the Nets will be building a good basis amid the rubble of the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving-James Harden period.

We all know the beginning 5 and the two or three first guys off the bench, but is there someone you can see on this roster outside of those guys turning into a big-time contributor? – @tbrucato

Just trying at the roster, there is no direct path to minutes for any of the younger guys. But last 12 months’s membership relied on robust stretches from a number of non-rotation gamers. Mike Brown did not hesitate to go with youthful gamers if a rotation participant got harm or struggled. That said, it’s laborious to see any of the younger non-rotation gamers making constant, vital contributions this season. The high of that rotation seems to be set. One other word on free agent signings forward of coaching camp: veteran middle Tony Bradley has also been a participant on the Knicks’ radar. The Knicks do not presently have a third middle, but there is a robust degree of confidence internally in the Karl-Anthony Towns-Andre Drummond duo at the place.

** I answered a query from @AndrewA59778512 last week, but I cited @sbart_89 as the reader. My apologies for the mix-up. My opinion on @sbart_89’s background picture stays the same as it was last week. I love it.
