There’s some extremely unlucky information to report out of Oklahoma City. On Tuesday evening, in a preseason time beyond regulation contest against the Indiana Pacers, former Kentucky Wildcats star and present OKC Thunder rookie Otega Oweh went down with an obvious proper foot damage, which came on a non-contact play.
Oweh planted, and when he went to explode off his proper foot, he collapsed to the flooring. He could be seen grabbing at the back of his ankle, suggesting it could be an Achilles damage.

Sadly, the Thunder confirmed that Wednesday night, asserting Oweh sustained a season-ending Achilles tear. He’s already had surgical procedure to restore the damage.
This setback is a main intestine punch for Oweh, who turned 23 in June, just days before being chosen forty first general by Oklahoma City. The former Kentucky star already had a tough begin to his professional profession, leaving his first-ever summer season league sport with a left foot damage and not returning to motion.
After Tuesday’s sport, OKC head coach Mark Daigneault stored it short while acknowledging the seriousness of the scenario.
“It’s really tough, really tough. It’s tough for him,” Daigneault instructed reporters.

Anyone who has adopted Oweh’s profession knows how essential his pace, athleticism, and explosiveness are to his effectiveness on the court.
Fingers crossed that Oweh will be back out there chasing his NBA goals next season. You do not have to look very exhausting to understand how gritty of a competitor he is, so there’s no doubt that Oweh will put in the work to rehab this damage.
