Princess Anne’s husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, has been honored with one of the highest ranks in the Royal Victorian Order by King Charles.
Laurence’s main promotion makes him the first member of the Firm to be awarded the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) since Princess Catherine, who obtained the honor from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2019.
In an intimate ceremony at Balmoral Castle on Aug. 21, the king invested Laurence with the GCVO.

The king not too long ago honored his spouse, Queen Camilla, with the prestigious title of Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom in celebration of her 78th birthday.
The transfer was an unprecedented one, as Her Majesty turned the first lady to maintain the title, which can only be appointed by a sovereign.
The honorary title must first be nominated by the First Sea Lord, a post presently held by Sir Gwyn Jenkins, who said the queen’s new position will “further enhance Her Majesty’s relationship with the Service.”
