Damascus has reportedly been rocked by gunfire and explosions close to the presidential palace of Syrian chief Ahmed al-Sharaa.
It is unknown whether the incident was a focused assault on al-Sharaa.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says heavy gunfire was heard close to the Presidential Palace in Damascus.
Syria OSINT also reports on X: “A short while ago, an IED planted on Al-Mazeh-People’s Palace road was detonated as an unknown convoy was heading towards the Palace overlooking #Damascus, #Syria. It was then adopted by heavy gunfire. No rapid data is obtainable, as of now.”
However, a Syrian authorities source to Al Arabiya TV: “No truth to the news circulating about a security incident inside the Presidential Palace.”
