US President Donald Trump has been filmed in a pair of awkward exchanges with a supply driver during a White House occasion, after a video was shared online by the administration.
The footage exhibits the president greeting a DoorDash driver who had arrived with an order, before inviting her to take half in an impromptu press convention.
During the interplay, Trump appeared to put the girl on the spot by asking about her political opinions. At one level, he said: “I think you voted for me. Do you think? Oh, maybe.”
The driver responded cautiously, replying: “Oh, maybe,” showing hesitant as cameras rolled.
In a later second, the exchange grew to become tense again when Trump requested her about a divisive political situation. “Do you think that men should play in women’s sports?” he said.
The driver declined to have interaction, responding: “I really don’t have an opinion on that… I’m here about tax on tips.”
Trump replied: “You don’t? I’ll bet you do,” before calmly tapping her on the arm, creating a visibly uncomfortable second as she tried to steer the dialog away.
The interplay came as half of a wider occasion selling tax adjustments, with the driver praising the coverage, saying: “It has helped my family out immensely and I definitely appreciate it.”
At another level, Trump referenced her funds, saying she had “picked up an extra $11,000” due to tax adjustments, which she confirmed was “very surprising”.
The clip also featured a broader press briefing, where Trump took questions on points including Iran, power coverage and US home politics.
Trump, who returned to the White House after profitable the 2024 election, is identified for his unfiltered talking type and usually unscripted interactions with members of the public and press. His strategy has often drawn both reward from supporters for its directness and criticism from opponents who say it can lead to uncomfortable or controversial moments.
The video has since circulated broadly online, with the transient exchanges attracting explicit consideration for their tone and the driver’s seen discomfort.
The White House has not commented further on the interplay.
