Donald Trump has said Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an “energy ceasefire” in the conflict between the two nations.

The US president supplied few particulars, apart from it being “effective immediately”. Neither Kyiv nor Moscow have so far commented. The BBC has requested the White House for more particulars.

Trump has been urging Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian oil infrastructure – which Kyiv says are very important to curbing income for Moscow’s conflict machine – so it can fulfil a recently-struck deal to release diesel to the US and the international market.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier on Sunday that he was prepared to halt the strikes if Russia ceased concentrating on Ukrainian vitality infrastructure, attacks which have been intensifying forward of winter.
