Italian chef Davide Tamburella was fired from a Brisbane restaurant in May after the institution’s management expressed issues about a string of complaints about the chef’s behaviour.

Among them were Tamburella’s refusal to present ham and pineapple pizza for visitors at a operate.

It was the third time Tamburella had refused to use the fruit on pizzas in the previous 4 years.

At the time, the chef had said that placing pineapple on pizza was “offensive to his culture”.

Australia correspondent Katy Watson explains what led to Tamburella’s dismissal.
