A 20-year-old South African lady has died in what police believe was a homicide on board a luxurious superyacht in the Bahamas. Paige Bell was discovered unresponsive in the engine room of the 43-metre vessel Far From It, docked at Harbour Island.

Police said she had seen accidents and was pronounced useless by a physician who arrived at the scene. A 39-year-old Mexican national was found close by with extreme arm wounds and is now going through a homicide charge. Local authorities described his accidents as constant with a suspected suicide attempt.

Bell, initially from Johannesburg, had been working as a stewardess and was due to flip 21 next week, reports MailOnline.

Her former colleagues described her as a “golden girl” and paid tribute on a fundraising web page set up in her reminiscence.

The yacht expenses up to £120,000 per week and can accommodate ten friends and 9 crew members.

The incident has rocked the yachting neighborhood and prompted tributes from across the industry.

The man accused of her homicide is expected to seem in court in the Bahamas immediately.

A GoFundMe web page set up in Paige’s honour has so far raised $42,684.

A press release by her household said: “She would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th. In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was.

“Paige was more than a teammate, she was household. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

“Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went.”
