Ellison and Thompson have been negotiating over Thompson’s future in current weeks, including discussing renewing a contract that expires early next yr, but no settlement has been reached, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Weiss is not expected to have a managerial function involving CNN when the deal closes, sources informed The Post.

A CBS insider said Weiss “seemed subdued” and was going through the motions and “being overly nice and encouraging.” at the 9 am editorial assembly on Thursday.
