JPMorgan revealed a uncommon earnings miss while Goldman Sachs blew previous income estimates as 4 of the nation’s high banks reported combined third-quarter earnings Tuesday.

JPMorgan – the largest US bank by belongings and the largest in the world by market cap – reported earnings per share of $5.57, lacking estimates of $5.90. It recorded income of $50.91 billion, below expectations of $51.22 billion.

The bank’s fixed income trading of $5.4 billion missed estimates by roughly $550 million. Expenses were about $90 million more than expected, as prices grew 12% over the previous 12 months and income jumped just 8% over the same period – a troubling signal for traders.
