The household of a lady who was killed by an immigration agent in Minneapolis in January has announced two lawsuits against the US authorities and members of the Trump administration.

Renee Good was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer during a sweep of the metropolis focusing on immigrants and criminals that was called Operation Metro Surge.

One of the fits blames the authorities for her death, claiming the operation created “an unprecedented environment for state-sponsored violence”, a lawyer for the household, Antonio Romanucci, said during a information convention on Thursday.

The White House and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have not yet commented on the lawsuits.

After another Minneapolis resident, Alex Pretti, was killed by immigration brokers weeks later, a whole bunch of federal brokers were withdrawn from the Minnesota metropolis.

The lawsuits were filed by Good’s companion, Becca Good, and her brother Brent Ganger.

In one, they accuse the authorities of “battery, assault, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence that caused Renee’s death”.

It cites the Federal Tort Claims Act, which permits residents to sue the authorities for personal damage, death, or property injury triggered by the negligence of federal workers.

The second lawsuit targets ICE officer Jonathan Ross, who shot Good, as properly as White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, White House border chief Tom Homan and others, alleging a “conspiracy to interfere with civil rights by senior federal officials, federal immigration enforcement agents, and private actors”.

Good was a 37-year-old mom of three who had just moved to the metropolis. She was shot on 7 January in a visitors stop, which immigration authorities said occurred after she made “an attempt to kill or cause bodily harm to agents” in “an act of domestic terrorism”.

Family members and witnesses disputed that she was trying to attack officers when she was killed inside her car.

Her death sparked nationwide protests, which intensified after Pretti was also shot to death by immigration brokers on 24 January.
