The injury-riddled 49ers finally got some excellent news.
Top free-agent acquisition Mike Evans is expected to play Week 1 when the crew opens the season in Melbourne, Australia, against the Los Angeles Rams, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Evans has spent most of coaching camp dealing with accidents, most not too long ago a groin damage that saved him on the sideline during their apply on Tuesday. Fowler reported that the damage is thought of “minor.”
Evans, 33, is expected to lead the 49ers huge receiver room as they will be without Ricky Pearsall, who is out for the season due to a knee damage, and Brandon Aiyuk, who is on the crew’s reserve/did not report listing.
The crew could also be without veteran tight finish George Kittle to begin the season, who is returning from a ruptured Achilles damage he suffered during the wild-card win over the Eagles in January.
With the Buccaneers last season, the veteran huge receiver dealt with nagging accidents after struggling a hamstring pressure in the early half of the 12 months. He later suffered a damaged collarbone and a concussion — ensuing in him snapping an 11-year stint of consecutive seasons with over 1,000 yards receiving.
Known as one of the best wideouts in the pink zone, the 49ers signed him to a three-year, $60 million deal over the offseason, as they hope he will make main contributions for quarterback Brock Purdy.
Aside from Evans, veteran edge rusher Nick Bosa is expected to return to apply next week, as effectively as cornerback Upton Stout.
