The NBA season begins in 52 days, and while the Memphis Grizzlies begin exhibition play in 37 days, vs. Quin Snyder’s Hawks, common season play begins in 53 days, on October 21, against the Utah Jazz, that includes former Blue Devil Kyle Filipowski.
There’s a lot of eager curiosity in how former Duke star Cameron Boozer will do as his NBA profession begins up.

At least one GM, anonymously, thinks he’s headed for a Rookie of the Year marketing campaign, saying this: “Boozer is a winner and he’s won things his entire young life. Memphis isn’t going to have a good year, but he’s going to be the bright spot and he’s going to win the award.”
He’s more educated than we are, but Boozer could be higher than people expect. We’re not saying they’ll essentially make the playoffs, but Boozer will be a strong scorer, rebounder, and he’s a much higher passer than people think.
Almost-Blue Devil Cedric Coward should begin at one guard, while former Virginia level guard Ty Jerome will take over for Ja Morant.
He’s nowhere close to the expertise Morant is, clearly, but he’s going to be much more regular, and the possibilities of getting suspended for doing something idiotic are trivial. As immensely proficient as Morant is, he can be his own worst enemy.

The factor that people do not totally understand about Boozer is that he’s a very good passer. It won’t shock us in the least if he leads Memphis in assists, protecting that weak spot as Edey and newly acquired Isaiah Stewart should cowl up his perceived defensive weaknesses in the post.
The greatest factor, as the GM noticed, is that Boozer is a winner, and he’s a winner because he has mastered the fundamentals of the sport at a very early age, and understands it at a stage a lot of gamers never determine out. Whether it’s this 12 months or one or two down the street, he’s going to help flip that staff around.
