Expect Knecht to play a lot for the Westchester Knicks of the G-League, but he can play up to 50 video games for the huge membership on a two-way deal.

Knecht, 25, was a sensation with the Lakers and their followers for the first couple of months of 2024, thriving as a shooter on the LeBron James and Anthony Davis Lakers. In his first 19 video games, Knecht averaged 12.2 factors per sport, taking pictures 43.9% from 3-point vary, and he already had began seven video games. But the vibes modified after the Lakers traded for Luka Doncic midseason, because what the Lakers needed from their wings modified.

Knecht is not a good defender and struggled with his shot, and with that stored falling deeper and deeper out of JJ Redick’s rotation. Last season, in 54 video games, he averaged 4.2 factors a evening and he shot 34.2% from beyond the arc. Facing a roster crunch to get down to 15 gamers before the begin of the season, the Lakers waived Knecht on Monday. The Lakers selected to keep Bronny James and Jaden Hardy. One of the roster-building challenges the Lakers have had in latest years is that they had the No. 17 decide in back-to-back years, 2023 and 2024, and chosen Jalen Hood-Schifino and then Knecht, both of whom are not with the staff (and neither is even on a customary NBA contract).

Knecht deserved a probability somewhere, and he got one in New York.
