The personal information of a whole bunch of 1000’s of people may have been uncovered following suspected cyberattacks on two South Korean megachurches.

Seoul’s Yoido Full Gospel Church and Sarang Church said they are investigating the attacks, which could doubtlessly have an effect on a whole bunch of 1000’s of congregants.

Cybersecurity company Oasis Security said it found attack information and account info on an abroad server containing information linked to the two church buildings.

According to the company, information of the suspected attacks included indicators that artificial intelligence (AI) instruments may have been used during the cyberattacks.

Oasis Security pointed to references to “sub-agents” and in depth attack reports that appeared to have been generated routinely.

On Wednesday, Yoido Full Gospel Church said an initial evaluation revealed that information tied to 850,000 of its members may have been compromised.

The church said the information consists of names and dates of delivery along with a smaller quantity of information containing national identification numbers, addresses and phone numbers.

Affected members are being notified by the church, which said it had also blocked exterior access and modified its server passwords.

Meanwhile, Sarang Church announced that it had fashioned an emergency process drive following the suspected cyber incident.

The church said the breach was reported to authorities and that it is taking further steps to decide what occurred and forestall future incidents.

The suspected cyber intrusions come after current hacks concentrating on South Korean industrial banks resulted in breaches of clients’ personal info.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said Tuesday that indicators had emerged of AI being used in some current hacking incidents involving banks.
