After Sinner pulled out of the 2026 Shanghai Masters, former French Open champion and fellow Italian Adriano Panatta said followers should now be ‘involved’ about the 25-year-old’s scenario.

Adriano Panatta reacts to Jannik Sinner’s newest withdrawal

As per Rai1, Panatta said: “It’s been a while since he last played, so we should be concerned. I want to say one thing: I’ve read a lot of controversy about the fact that we don’t really know what’s wrong with Jannik. It’s normal for it to be that way, because Sinner probably has a knee problem, and it’s not like someone can explain it perfectly and hand over the medical records.

“They’re making an attempt to resolve the subject, and from what I know a little bit too, it’s very difficult. Now he’s even pulled out of Shanghai, I hope he can get back to taking part in for the [ATP] Finals and then consequently the Davis Cup.

“Even if returning right away to a big event, a big tournament, without having had the chance for an intermediate situation, like the Six Kings Slam there in Saudi Arabia… He could play Vienna, which is then a tournament he’s always won and that’s close to home, so he can drive there, like if I were going from Rome to Florence”

Sinner is scheduled to seem at the Six Kings Slam exhibition occasion in Saudi Arabia, which gets underway later this month. After that, he has three title defences to take care of in Vienna, Paris and the ATP Finals.
